Speed Eating
Elon Musk was a latecomer to professional speed eating, competing for the first time at the age of thirty-five. However, he was a quick study and under the coaching of Mads Lund, a Swedish champion, he soon learned to distend his abdomen at will. Musk won the World Kielbasa Eating Cup in Irkutsk, Siberia, a year later. Many gold medals followed, including a coveted bulk curd eating title in Patna, India.
In 2011, at the age of forty-six, Musk traveled to Coney Island in New York City to compete in Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest. Musk not only blazed past his rivals — he ate 143 more hot dogs than the second-place contestant. Since his astounding victory, Musk has devoted much of his substantial free time to competitive eating.
